FI*KingLeo's is a small Maine Coon cattery in central Oulu, Northern Finland. Welcome to explore our website - hope you enjoy!
We are a family of five people and five coons. Maine Coons have been an important part of our lives for years. Our cattery name was registered in FIFe on September 2012. Our goal is to breed big, healthy, typey and sweet tempered Maine Coons. We treasure the traditional Maine Coon and wish to breed well balanced cats. We are not into anything extreme - the MCO standard is our bible, and we follow the one big word from it: balance. :) Our cattery is regularily tested for microsporum canis and all cats in our breeding programme are tested and scanned for FIV, FeLV, HCM (gene and scan), SMA, HD and PKD.
Our entire family enjoys the company of coons and our cats are dear family members to us. It makes me extremely happy to see how cats and kids have a special bond, how they respect and comfort each other, and how they run and play together.
Cats are our family members, and that is the reason why we want to restrict the amount of cats living at home. This is also the reason some of our breeding cats are living with our friends. We have a great KingLeo's gang, group of friends united by KingLeo's coons. Together we travel to shows in Finland and abroad, having fun and enjoying time together and with our cats.
Perheeseemme kuuluu viisi ihmistä ja kahdeksan coonia. Maine Coonit ovat olleet iso osa elämäämme jo vuosia. Kissalamme nimi rekisteröitiin FIFe:ssä syyskuussa 2012. Tavoitteenamme on kasvattaa terveitä, isoja, tyypikkäitä ja hienoluonteisia Maine Cooneja. Kunnioitamme Maine Coon -rodun perinteitä ja tavoitteenamme on kasvattaa tasapainoisia kissoja. Mikään liian extreme ei ole meidän juttu - MCO standardi on tyypin suhteen raamattumme, ja erityisesti yksi johtosana sieltä: tasapainoisuus. Kissoistamme testataan säännöllisesti microsporum canis ja muut dermatofyytit. Kaikki jalostuskäytössämme olevat kissat testataan FIV:n, FeLVin, HCM:n (geeni ja ultraus), SMA:n, HD:n ja PKD:n varalta.
Koko perheemme nauttii coonien loistavasta seurasta. Lasten ja kissojen kanssa talossa riittää touhua ja tapahtumia. On hienoa katsoa kuinka lapset ja kissat touhuavat sulassa sovussa, toisiaan kunnioittaen ja toisistaan huolehtien ja sitten välillä yhdessä villiintyen.
Kissat ovat meille perheenjäseniä. Jotta ketään ei tarvitsisi eristää, ja jotta kaikille riittää aikaa ja huomiota, pidämme kissamäärän kotona pienenä. Siksi osa siitoskissoistamme asuu ystäviemme luona, heidän perheenjäseninään. KingLeojen klaaniin kuuluu kasvava joukko ihmisiä, jotka ovat ystävystyneet KingLeo's coonien kautta. Yhdessä teemme hulvattomia näyttelymatkoja niin koti- kuin ulkomaillakin.
Story behind the name
I lost one of the most important person in my life, when my brother Tuomas died of a heart attack in May 2012. Another big loss followed only two days later, when our Saga's son & Apollo's brother Kingi passed away. Tuomas' death changed my life and way of thinking. My brother often fooled around with Latin and Carpe Diem was one of his many mottos. You could say KingLeo's was born from my sorrow, because I've realized it is time to seize the moment and to concentrate on things you really enjoy. My brother was a true Leo, Kingi was King Leonidas, and so our cattery name carries the memory of my two loved ones.
Menetin yhden elämäni tärkeimmistä ihmisistä kun veljeni Tuomas kuoli sydänkohtaukseen toukokuussa 2012. Suru ei tullut yksin, sillä vain kaksi päivää myöhemmin jouduimme hyvästelemään toisenkin aurinkomme, Sagan pojan ja Apollon veljen Kingin. Tuomaksen kuoleman jälkeen mikään ei ole ollut ennallaan, ja olen alkanut ajatella asioita toisin kuin ennen. Voi sanoa, että KingLeo's on noussut surun tuhkasta, koska jossain vaiheessa päätin elää kuten veljenikin halusi, hetkeen tarttuen ja tehden asioita joista oikeasti nauttii. Tuomas oli horoskoopiltaan leijona, Kingi oli King Leonidas, nyt kissalamme nimessä elää molempien aurinkopoikien muisto.
